South Peace River Area Map

For the benefit of our REALTORS® and clients, we further categorized the South Peace River into neighbourhoods that rest south of the Peace River, which include Dawson Creek to the east, Chetynd to the west and Tumbler Ridge to the south. These neighbourhoods are determined by the various municipalities, population density, and zoning bylaws.

From hiking through ancient forests, admiring the unique rock formations of Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark or discovering the many pounding waterfalls in the region, there’s no limit to the adventures you will have in the South Peace River region. Surround yourself in a wholesome community and easily surround yourself in nature at any opportunity.
 

Dawson Creek

Dawson Creek is located in northern BC along the border to Alberta. Popular activities include fishing in nearby lakes and rivers and skiing at Bear Mountain Ski Hill, which is only minutes away.

Dawson Creek has several schools, including schools with French immersion and Montessori options and private schools. Northern Lights College provides trades education. Dawson Creek also has its own hospital.

Dawson Creek has a couple of local transit routes and most errands can be completed on foot or by bike. The city also has an airport and a bus that travels to Prince George twice per week.

Chetwynd

Located an hour east of Dawson Creek, Chetwynd is located on the prairies before the Rocky Mountains. Camping, hiking, fishing and swimming are popular activities with the many lakes nearby.

Housing in Chetwynd is affordable and features a variety of communities. The area is highly livable with its abundance of parks and facilities, including ice arena and indoor walking track. Chetwynd has several elementary schools, a secondary school, a Northern Lights College campus, and its own hospital. Buses make a couple trips to Prince George and Dawson Creek each week, though a vehicle is recommended.

Tumbler Ridge

Located just over an hour southwest of Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge is known for its beautiful natural surroundings. This hiker’s paradise features mountains, canyons and the famed Kinuseo Falls. With its unique rock formations, the community is home to the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark.

The homes of the planned community of Tumbler Ridge are very affordable. The community has its own elementary school, secondary school, Northern Lights College campus and medical clinic.

As a smaller community, you are able to complete errands by walking or cycling. A vehicle is required for travel out of Tumbler Ridge.
