BC Wildfires Member Support

Amidst the ongoing wildfires in our province, the Association of Interior REALTORS® stands unwaveringly by your side. While the flames present challenges, they cannot deter our resolve. Remember that we are here to provide resolute support, and we are fully committed to assisting you in every way possible.

For urgent support, please contact the Association mainline at 250-491-4560. You can also reach out via email at [email protected].

In case of an emergency outside of office hours, members who have joined our private Facebook groups can choose to report or seek help from fellow members in respective regions. Remember, we are all in this together!

Recommendations for Cleaner Indoor Air

  • Houseplant Care: Hydrate your houseplants; they act as natural filters.
  • Steam Utilization: During showers, let steam humidify indoor air by turning off the fan and keeping the bathroom door ajar.
  • Essential Oil Humidification: Use an essential oil humidifier in the largest room, moving it to your bedroom at night.
  • Herbal Water Vapor: Boil water with herbs like cinnamon, rosemary, eucalyptus, and cloves to create a soothing vapor.
  • Vinegar Surface Spray: Refresh surfaces with a natural vinegar solution to mitigate airborne particles.

Remember these basics too:

  • Regularly change your furnace filter for efficient air circulation.
  • Set your fan to circulate indoor air and distribute filtered air.
  • Keep windows and doors closed to prevent outdoor smoke from entering.

Your well-being matters. Implement these tips for a healthier indoor environment.

Thank you REALTORS®

Thank you REALTOR® Lavern Bazin, a volunteer firefighter, as he fearlessly confronts blazes on the front lines. We applaud Lavern's resilience and his act of kindness shines brightly.

We are immensely grateful to REALTOR® Steffie Brenner in Vernon, BC and REALTOR® Kim Heizmann from Kelowna, BC for taking charge of a collection drive that provided food supplies to our courageous firefighters in the region. The collection drive was conducted at Elks Hall, 3103 30 St., Vernon, BC on Aug 22nd, 2023 from 4-6pm.

Lisa Atkinson, a REALTOR® and a dedicated member from Kamloops, BC, personally conducted a collection drive of essential supplies for people affected in the Shuswap area. As every bit of contribution helped our affected communities and firefighters directly, we are proud to know that many other REALTORS® from the region who also come forward and supported Lisa's initiative. Members donated supplies such as batteries, steel toe shoes, headlamps with batteries, flashlights, heavy-duty extension cords, hot dogs/buns, non-perishables, pepperoni sticks, and fire extinguishers.

We are aware of the compassion of our REALTOR® members. Despite evacuation threats, many members are trying to bridge supply gaps to isolated areas, and continue to show support. We thank all those among us who have selflessly opened their homes, providing shelter and care to fellow members and their families.
